Quimper… Capital of the Pays Glazic, capital of Cornouaille, capital of the crêpe, or capital of Breton culture. So many facets for an art and history city full of charm.

Starting from the Saint-Corentin cathedral, this walk invites you to discover Quimper gently, through its must-see places and its characterful alleys. Here, no long speeches: simply the essentials to understand the city, its history and its identity, throughout your walk.

After a well-deserved lunch break, continue your discovery in a more natural and cultural atmosphere, following the flow of the Odet. From Mont Frugy to the Locmaria quarter, let yourself be carried between landscapes, heritage and little touches of Breton culture, from yesterday and today.

Accessible to everyone, this route is done at your own pace, without constraint. A simple and pleasant way to enjoy Quimper, with the bonus of our best addresses for having a drink, eating on the go, or bringing back a nice souvenir.

This day is ideal for those who wish to take their time, vary the atmospheres and discover Quimper under all its facets.

Once your payment has been validated, you are free to choose the date of your walk.

Our routes are available all year round, 7 days a week.

Need to set off now? It’s possible! You can even start your walk in less than 15 minutes.

  • An umbrella and sunscreen: a quick look at the local weather is always useful. After all, we are in Brittany!

5h depending on your walking pace and your curiosity

We recommend starting in the morning to make the most of the places.

The ideal time in any season: 10 a.m.

Why?
- The cathedral opens at 10 a.m. (low or high season), with fewer people at opening time. Please note that in the low season the cathedral is closed from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- Fewer crowds in the historic streets early in the morning.
- The route will take you past the museums of Quimper: take the opportunity to gather information for an afternoon visit.
- You will be able to spot shops and restaurants and return to them later in the evening at your leisure.

The ideal days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (although possible, it is much busier on weekends and there are no free shuttles on Sundays).

Between June 15 and September 15, we advise against starting this walk after 3 p.m., as some places may be closed, parking may be inaccessible and traffic in the city becomes more difficult.

On Saturdays all year round, it is market day. It will also be more difficult to find free parking in the morning.

At the end of July, the Festival de Cornouaille takes place. Access to Quimper will be paid on certain days and crowds will be significant; it is therefore preferable to avoid these days for your walk.

  • Tips for free parking to start the walk (depending on attendance and times see the section ""our advice on timing"")

  • Follow the walk at your own pace, without constraints

  • Enjoy the best addresses (restaurants, bars, shops)

  • Perfect spots for the most beautiful photos, in the city as well as in the heart of nature.

  • Locate the toilets closest to the route

  • Finish where you started, the route forms a loop.
