With "Balades et Clics", discover Quimper in complete freedom thanks to a route designed with particular attention to accessibility. All our adapted itineraries have been tested and validated in the field. In Quimper, curb cuts are generally of good quality, but if you don't have a sports-type wheelchair, assistance is recommended to help navigate a few cobblestone areas that are short but sometimes tricky.
Starting from Saint-Corentin Cathedral, let yourself be guided through Quimper... Capital of the Pays Glazik, Cornouaille, the crêpe, and Breton culture! A city of art and history with multiple facets.
The tour unfolds in two stages: first, a historical immersion in the heart of medieval alleyways and charming little squares, where you'll enter the legend of King Gradlon and witness the rivalry between the Dukes of Brittany and the episcopal city.
Rich with anecdotes and little stories, the tour then takes on a more cultural character. From the Locmaria district to the quays of the Odet, you'll meet the players of a Breton culture deeply rooted in Quimper and now recognized far beyond its borders.
Throughout the route, enjoy an authentic local atmosphere, enhanced by our best recommendations for having a drink, savoring a specialty, or bringing home a beautiful souvenir.
A living experience, where heritage and culture dialogue with modernity, to discover Quimper differently, at your own pace and without constraints.
Once your payment is validated, you freely choose the date of your walk.
Our routes are available all year round, 7 days a week.
Need to leave now? It's possible! You can even start your walk in less than 15 minutes.
A phone charged to 100% (90% works too)
Comfortable shoes for companions, even though the route has an easy walking level
Water
A snack or picnic (optional, as several food spots are suggested along the way)
An umbrella and sunscreen: a quick check of the local weather is always useful. We're in Brittany after all!
Approximately 4 hours depending on your pace and curiosity.
Although this walk covers half a day, we recommend starting in the morning to make the most of the places.
The ideal time year-round: 10 AM.
Why?
The cathedral opens at 10 AM (low or high season), fewer people at opening. Please note, in low season the cathedral is closed from 12 PM to 3 PM. If you start your route after 3 PM, you won't be able to catch the last free shuttle if you're parked at the Eau Blanche parking lot.
Fewer crowds in the historic alleyways early in the morning
The route will take you past Quimper's museums: take the opportunity to gather information for an afternoon visit
You can spot shops and restaurants and return to them later in the day at your leisure
Ideal days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (although possible, much more crowded on weekends and there are no free shuttles on Sundays)
Between June 15 and September 15, we advise against starting this walk after 3 PM, as some places may be closed, parking lots inaccessible, and traffic in the city becomes more difficult.
Every Saturday year-round is market day. It will also be more difficult to park in a free parking lot in the morning.
At the end of July, the Cornouaille Festival takes place. Access to Quimper will be paid on certain days and crowds will be large; it's therefore preferable to avoid these days for your walk.
Suggested free parking lots to start the walk (depending on attendance and times, see the "our recommendations for timing" section)
Follow the walk at your own pace, without constraints
Perfect viewpoints for your photos
Enjoy good addresses (restaurants, bars, shops)
Locate the nearest restrooms along the route
Finish where you started, the circuit forms a loop
